Re: 90 HP 4 cycle performance
Actually, the new Suzuki four stroke 70, 80, and 90 hp motors are 341-347 lbs. The 100, 115, and 140 hp models are 427-440 lbs.
The Suzuki DF90 tested at 92 hp by Trailer Boating, contrasted with my 375 lb Mercury Optimax 90 2-stroke testing at 106 hp here locally, and the BRP Etec 90 2-stroke testing at 105 hp according to results published on Scream-n-Fly.
Amazing what just an hour of research will turn up.

Re: 90 HP 4 cycle performance
Just for some more information for you to base your decision....
I have a 79 18 with a 1994 Mercury 115 HP inline 4 cylinder. I cruise at 22-23 knots and WFO 5100 rpm the boat tops out at 28.5 knots. This is by myself with 3/4 full tank and no tabs. |

Re: 90 HP 4 cycle performance
The simple answer is no they are not adaquate, you can quote weight all you want but there's no replacement for HP - read the thread about the 23 with 225 Etec - will it plane with a 150 maybe but won't ride worth crap - its not a tugboat.

A little old, but here's a 90hp shootout from Bass and Walleye. Also the old Suzuki 90 is the same block as the 115 and 140. 90/115 are the exact same displacement (and the 115 is a strong 115). 140 has a slightly larger bore than the 90/115. |
