Tsunami floor restore

Are there any benefits to restoring the original pattern on the floor? Its gonna be a pile of taping, but I think it would look nice. I like the other floors I have seen to that are solid (no pattern) like John123's. Is it worth going through the extra work?

The solid non-skid is probably more practicle but the lines mean Classic Seacraft.

I have maintained the lines on my two Seacrafts. Lots of taping but Tom at SF can get you the 1/2" tape or go to Sherwin-Williams Car paint store and buy generic brand plastic tape for the 1/2" stripes. Takes some work but the result is really nice.

Got the tank pulled today.... Found where all my foam and nut shells were coming from.. Chipmunks....





Fuel tank deck was soaked as was the foam under it. THe foam up in front tof the tank was bone dry though. It appears somebody glassed in the bilge once and dammed up the foam from draining out what it could.



All cleaned up.



It appears to be all structurally sound, I have to get up under the floor box to dig the rest of the foam out yet. FUN! Can I get by with regular 3/4 inch plywood for the tank floor? I will seal it up all the way around.

No doubt the stripes would be nice looking,and heck if you have the nice working conditions like you do then go for it.Part of me still wishes I did the stripes.
As for the hatches,I did all the hatches and the transom with marine fir plywood.
I probably went overboard with the glass the glass work when it came to these.At my age I know it will last me,unless I'm still fishing at 90.

Having said that if I were to do it over again,I'd give some thought to using foamcore,or maybe Balsa core instead of the plywood.
I can't believe how heavy they are.In my opinion,anything you can do to lessen the weight in the I/O the better.
My Tsunami sits low in the stern,and although it doesn't affect the ride,plugs in the scuppers are mandatory.
I'm not sure how much weight would be saved but maybe Someone on the site would know.

PS: I heard that trolling a live chipmunk on a wire dipsy behind a spin doctor works great for king salmon.

I was up in the air about the third seat, but I was talked into it..... There will be a cooler on the stbd side. We usually run a four man crew. I am considering building a bench seat eventualy for it the rears.

Looks very familiar. What are you going to use as a paint and as a non-skid agent? I remember using all the tape as you have indicated. Good luck.

Signature finish with his sand... I will try 50/50 mix of the coarse and fine grit and see how it looks in the morning.
