At lower rps, I believe the 200/225 fuel consumption not much more that the 150hp looper - same year.
At full throttle I believe these burn about 20% more fuel than the 150. It's true - those motors burn a lot more fuel than the new motors - such as Merc Opti, and Etec. If you can find one..........the Evinrude 200/225 after Bombardier took over around 2002 were excellent motors, and burned a lot less fuel too......called the DFI's..... I had an 05' 200 hp ....told it produced more like 215 hp at the prop and it burned about the same or less fuel than my old 150 hp looper. Still - unless you're going to put heavy mileage on em such as tuna fishing, it's cheaper to run the 225 carb'd than pay $ 16,000 for a new motor. |

My 200hp was strong - made a huge difference vs my older 150 looper. Gained a full 10 mph top end, plus jumped the boat up on plane, and could also plane at lower rpm. I'd like to put one on my V21' !!! 2002 - 2005 models, yup. |
