Default Scupper r/r on 23' Tsunami

I recently have had the chance to see the pcs. of wood that are sandwiched between the scupper and the floor... Bitchy spot ! The wood seems OK... I will be replacing the brass tubes, and while I am there I would like to drill-out the wood a bit, fill w/ epoxy, cure and then re-drill for new tube. Questions:

Any advantage to making the scupper holes larger now ?

How about not replacing the tubes at all and just leaving it epoxy ?

And, if I do go back w/ tubes - s.s. or copper ?
