Default Slipping Prop hub

Last trip out I noticed on my usuall 15-20 second full throttle burst that my rpms had rose 400 to 6000 and my mph dropped 7 mph to 43. Someone suggested maybe my hub was slipping on my prop. How can I test for this. It is a stiletto 3 blade on a 250 merc ob.

Take it to a good prop shop and get a new hub put in it. It takes about an hour and costs about $30.

Mark,

Mark the inner hub and the sleeve w/ a file or something and then put the boat throught it's paces. If you marks change orientation, the hub is slipping.

Mark sounds like you hub to me. The only other thing that may cause this is if the boat is left in the water and growth grew on the center line. This can cause air bubbles to enter the prop area. In our area of New Jersey it cost more than 30 to rehub.
