Default Trailer compatability question.

I own a Loadrite trailer rated at 4200lbs. Will this 'work' for my 23 seacraft w/ a 72 gal fuel tank and a 5.7 litre i/o ?

The trailer would be used mainly for moving no more than 5-6 miles 2x a year, however, could it be used for further excursions ?

alan,
I wouldnt try it.I think the wt w/o power on your tsunami is 3500lbs.with engine(1000lbs)fuel(400 lbs)lbs)and gear(300-500lbs)you're looking at a total wt of about5000-5500lbs.better to err on the side of caution and go with a 6400 or so.if you just need to launch and haul let me know-I have a guy in Bayshore who is so cheap and reliable you may never need a trailer!
hope this helps,

speaking of trailers what do you guys think I need 20' Septre with Johnson 115 348 # can I get away with 2800# or should I go with the 3100#
boat landing is 2000' away from front door.Prob wont go any further since you can do the whole coast of maine which it is only 7 miles to open ocean or go inland approx 40 miles.

Rudders, I have a 4100 dual axel and its over kill for this size boat but don't go smaller than the 3100. My friend tows with a 3100 and its just right for a 20'er. Think resale, nothing worse that a boat with a trailer that is just shy of being the right size.

I like to overkill when it comes to trailer also. Good to go with a trailer that fits your budget and also have a lasting life. Larger tires, axles, spindles, etc. will cost but will also last longer even with corrosion. Future add ons, redos may also contribute to unforseen added weight. Just an opinion.

Thx for the response,Bob. It just seems that the trailer that came w/ the boat - and actually brought the boat from FL to NY is no more stout than the 4200lb rated one that I own for another boat - a 20' Grady. And the 4200 lb one is CLEAN ! The FL one is a home-made one and when I saw it for the first time, I could not believe that the boat actually made it here ! A real piece of @*%$.
