Props
Has anyone put a Mercruiser 350 MPI Horizon w/Bravo 3 drive in a center console? If so what pitch props did you go with?
Any comments would be welcomed. Thanks. Brian [ March 24, 2003, 10:05 AM: Message edited by: NJfishman ] |

Re: Props
Brian, THats a hard on. YOu can have two of the same boats made on the same day out of the same mold and they may turn two different props. IT would be a good starting point to try and find the same style boat rigged the same. Propping gets very expensive if you dont do it right. There are some dealers that offer to do this for you for a slight fee. YOu can also go to mercurymarine.com and click on the prop link. You can enter your info into it and it will give you a size to start with. Good Luck.

Re: Props
Well it may be a "hard one" but not a "hard on". I asked if anyone had the same setup and what they were running in terms of props.I know what I have now (24's) but was wondering what anyone else was running. I am aware that there are many variables.
So I am assuming that you don't have the same set up. Thanks. |

Re: Props
OK thanks again. If I was hitting the proper RPM than I wouldn't be asking either. I am just wondering what the other guys are running with this set up.
Thanks. |

Re: Props
Brain, sorry I upset you. Just trying to help you out with props. If your hitting the proper rpm then there is no need to change prop size.

Re: Props
What is the top RPM? The 350 MPI should turn between 4600 to 5000 rpm. How we would prop it, load the boat with fuel, ice and the average people you fish with. I would aim for the lower point around 4750 rpm that way when you burn off fuel or go out fishing with a lighter load you dont go beyond 5000 rpm. We know you are turning 24" props what is your rpm, then we can go from there.

Re: Props
Hey Joe, I think he was looking for an answer not advice. Some people don't take advise very well. Hey NJFisherman.. The guy you were talking to is most likely the best Mercruiser person in NJ. Any advise he gives you for free I think you should take and be thankful...
