Many thanks

Birdsall makes a pretty nice product. Not cheap, but I've not seen a better one and I've looked pretty thoroughly.

Have a look at their various "rocket launchers" on their site at www.birdsallmarine.com

Jason (Trayder) was selling the one he bought for his 20' project. Don't know if it is sold yet. You can see pictures of it in the section covering his restoration. Even has "SeaCraft" embroidered on the cushion...

I bought that from Trayder for my 23'. Can't wait to install it. It's almost too nice.

Found this on ebay, looks like a Birdsall.

No, that eBay thing is not a Birdsall - but for what the high bid currently is, anyone tempted by that one ought to just pitch in the extra $100 and get a Birdsall - my humble opinion only.

The "mini rocket launcher" that they make in 32" wide is the same unit that goes in the current production SeaCraft 20 and is a really nice leaning post with options for under-seat storage tray, whale tail, four rod holders, etc.

They make about 12 different sizes of leaning post, so there is something that would suit just about any size boat you can imagine ( including a few that would be oversized on a 23').

I searched pretty high and low before accepting that I was going to have to spring for the Birdsall leaning post, but considering how long it should last, the extra bit of cash seemed worth it.

Hey Mark, you own stock in Birdsall. Cheapest one I saw was a bare bones one for $800.

No, I don't own stock in any marine business.

The 32" Birdsall "mini rocket launcher" is $565 - I have a receipt from twelve days ago stating as much.

All I was trying to say is that the item on eBay is approaching within range of that and it isn't a Birdsall as was suspected.

As I stated in my post above, it was merely my opinion after looking around that they were the one to get. Feel free to buy anything you want. West Marine has some economical ones if that's what you are after - swing back seat with cooler attached and all.
