Default Capt. Cuyler's Carver Crushed

Rochester was granted a new record of the most snow in any January in recorded history in this area. It is estimated that over 130 inches fell here in the last month creating a snow load situation for marina storage buildings thoughout the area. Well ours was the first to go and our Carver was front and center. I estimate damage at $25,000 to $30,000.

Just in time for the Atlantic City Boat show this week. Who says you don't get on your boat in February?

OUCH!! Otto, sorry this happened. Well, look at it this way, now you have a good reason for going to the AC show - to find yourself a new cruiser!

Maybe they will use something OTHER than 2X4's for the trusses next time?? Take a close look at the pic and decide for yourself!!!

Good News!

Despite the awful view in the above image our Marina crew had this boat cleared off, moved inside, cleaned and shink wrapped the same day as the image was taken. Most of the damage was to canvas and railings, with the 2kW radome taking a hit. The surveyor will be on site tommorrow and the parts will be ordered from Carver on Friday. Very little damage to the gelcoat. She'll be as good aS new for a mid-April splash.

Wife was hoping it was totaled...

Hey Otto-

I was unable to view the picture, but rest assured, I am sure it can all be fixed. Two years ago, my buddy who owns a restoration shop, fixed a 31 Tiara that was crushed by a warehouse roof that collapsed under the snow. The bow pulpit was snapped off, the windshield was crushed, and there was extensive fiberglass damage through out the cockpit. Needless to say, 4-5 months later she was better than new.....even though the factory doubted she good be fixed.

Sorry to hear the unfortunate news. Maybe it will turn out to be blessing in disguise and someone will buy it from you when it is fixed.

Ed

Vezo,

AC didn't work out due to the boat "incident", work stuff and some untimely crappy weather moving through. BUT, this time next week, I'll be at the Miami show, lovin life.

Good News! Talked the family into 2 weeks in HHI. We'll be at HH Cabanas on South Forest Beach with 7 other Rochester families - 14 adults and 22 kids. We'll have time for something. Perhaps I could get an invite to your station for some of the younger kids. They just want to borrow the ladder truck for a couple of hours...

Hey Otto, You're scaring me!!! 14 adults and 22 kids? Holy Moly!!! Fire Station tours sound much easier than sea trialing the Seacrafts! You are all WELCOME! You will pass my station outside Sun City/Hilton Head just 5 miles after leaving I-95 from exit 8. Look to your right just after the small, very expensive, new, residents only bridge. My brother Tommy, works just under the new toll booth of the Cross Island Expressway ( hope you are aware that this is the only toll that will not accept EZ Pass from the G. Washington Bridge south! The @#$%% Palmetto Pass- just one more way for this underfunded state to get under your SKIN!!! Tommy has 3 daughters of his own and just LOVES giving station tours!!! Seriously, he's got some cool stuff there... always welcome. We work April 2,5,8,11,14,17,20,23,26,29, 8am 'til 8am. next morning. Pray for the Cobia! Keep in touch.
