Re: Another Hull ID Question
Thats funny Mark. You're starting to sound like the rest of my friends. "Why don't you ever take that thing out of your museum?" Had it out Thursday for about 3 hours, yes, 3 more than the original 100 it had before launching. First time since fall service. AWESOME. Had a past Seacraft owner (1988 18 Tracker) from FDNY visiting a friend. Four guys, full cooler and 45 mph on an old Apelco FF, for what thats worth. Beautiful cool day. Nice break from the Whaler refurb. Considering switching Apelco to 15 Whaler and a new Garmin for the MA. You are from Ga. Isles, no? Very similar here. Maybe up to 40 miles out, with another boat. 178C, 188C, or 192C? I like the idea of not having to purchase/install additional chip. Don't want to over/under equip.. What do you think? Mostly trolling wrecks for kings, some bottom fishing for cobia and tarpoon. More than likely, Whaler for trout and reds. Yes, I know, will have to remove from museum for this. Thanks. Vezo, Part II.

Re: Another Hull ID Question
Hey, if a classic sits in a "museum"(boathouse), long enough can it really UP-preciate? 1999 Johnson 175 definately DEEP-preciating, but a nice match to the hull.

Re: Another Hull ID Question
Hi Vezo,
I actually lived in Atlanta for several years (AWFUL place by the way), but used to keep my SC18' at Harkers Island up in NC. Now my SC20' lives behind the house in Stuart, Florida. As to Garmin products, I have the 182C and 320C side by side in my 20' and am happy with both, although my after-market shoot-thru transducer had some initial hiccups (defective one that was replaced by the Airmar). I've not used the 192C, so I can't comment on that one. I have had Garmin machines in the past as well as Furuno electronics and have been very happy with both. Due to space constraints, Garmin was the way I went with the new console on the 20', there simply wasn't room for the Furuno equivalents. I didn't want the split screen effect, so I stayed away from the 188C, my feeble mind probably couldn't cope with switching back and forth |

Re: Another Hull ID Question
Feeble mind would be most important, as would user friendly. My Sitex XJ-1 kicked my butt, and would like to make it a reef. Hoping that Garmin can help. 192C may be the answer. Thanks, and mint refurb.. Can I have a ride someday? Vezo.?

Re: Another Hull ID Question
Very Nice, Mark. Actually I will be a passenger traveling thru May 11 and returning May 17, but will not be able to stop. Check out www.speedskiffs.com. Go to Calendar of events and click on APBA Marathon. I'm going with the host for the skiffs as a rider. My skiff will stay in the museum for this one. If you can make it down you may be able to get a ride in the Swamp Rat. No joy riding at this event. Helmets, race suits and Lifeline vests. I have never turned a lap on an APBA Track. Should be pretty wild. Also asked to be a judge for the Friday Night "Beauty Contest" including Stock and Modified classes. My fiance put the kabosh on that one very quickly! Anyway, check it out. Later, Vezo.
