I've heard that Travis Marine sometimes has good deals, b/c of their buying power.

Get it shipped from NC and avoid the sales tax, have local suzuki dealer rig. They will beat thier adverstised prices, several board members have purchased from John McKena at Bayracer.

My local dealer wanted 11-12.5K to sell and rig my 140, I have 9.5K into the motor and all rigging.

You can look back in the archives from January and February on Suzuki 140's and get more details.

JW - I dare you ask your local suzuki dealer how they feel about mounting a brand new suzuki motor (which you didn't buy from them).

will they (bayracer) still honor the warranty if the engine is not installed by a local dealer? ie DIY installation?

Buy the harness, gauges, binacle from the local dealer have them rig it, the warranty is kicked on by the selling dealer...just make sure you get a receipt showing it was rigged by authorized dealer (for your protection). Most of the small dealers know they can not compete on the price from the dealers with the high volume. The riging, harness, gauges, binacle, and regular maintenance which you will get from your local dealer is from what I am told fairly profitable.

I saved $3,100 over what my local dealer wanted and he did the rigging on mine, I dropped it off on the way to work and picked it up on the way home the same day. He took about 15 minutes to cover all the little details on the motor when I picked it up and I will be using him for all of my maintenace needs in the future.

Edsmarinesupertore.com in VA sells motors all over the country and has them shipped to a local dealer, they suggest you but the harness and gauges from the local guy...the system works for eds on new motors (eds sells the Johnson version of the Suzuki on thier website as well).

you are correct, bayracer marine told my friend that if he install a Suzuki, the warranty will be voided. Further, they are moving away from suzuki. the funny this is that they will cover the warranty if it is a Yahama. don't ask me why
