twins setup question
for those of you that have twins on a bracket are you satisfied with the results. Did the ride change?
I am undecided which way to go. Thanks |

Re: twins setup question
Skiblet,
During the Stuart meeting this spring, "Generaider" (generator) brought his 23 with twin Evinrudes on a bracket. We all got a ride. What a great boat! I think there is no doubt that that the boat rides better, but he could tell you better himself.

Re: twins setup question
I really love my twins on my '79 23 MA CC. The bracket gives me so much more fishing room and the boat "feels" longer. The azz end seems to stay in the water better in a chop, too. I only wish my bracket had more flotation as I need to leave the rear scuppers plugged. I have however just put in a new fuel tank that is only 95 gallons vs. the 155 gallon one which has effectively moved the center of gravity a few feet forward and moved some weight out of the stern. I will let you know if this worked to any extent later tonight as I am about to splash the boat in an hour or so. As for speed, my little Suzi 115's push the boat at 4k rpm's to about 25.5 knots and wot about 37ish knots. Pleanty of speed for now and great economy and piece of mind 40 miles from shore.

Re: twins setup question
Yes the ride is great but I have the Seamark bracket (Potter) and the floation equals my 135s ficht rudes. This is the only setup that I have had (pulled twin I/Os) so I can't compare rides but others have said it was an improvement. My scuppers are above water if I put them thru. The boat becomes essentially a 26 footer. With trim tabs the ride in rough water is amazing for me coming out of my CSC 20 cc.
I looked at all the other brackets and went with the more expensive one cuz its glass, enclosed floatation, and designed by Potter. My boat stays in the water and glass is easy to paint and repair. I have seen other brackets being pumped out constantly and design-wise rely on a 2" seal to prevent leakage where mine the water has to get past an acre of 5200 to get to the bolt holes. Lastly, who would know my boat better than Potter? Bill |

Re: twins setup question
We just put twin 150 Yamaha HPDI's on our Potter bracket. The boat is not back yet. Will be back soon, we hope. But we had a single 225, and a regular transom. So when we get it splashed i will be sure to let you know the ride and performance #'s.

Re: twins setup question
SeaMaster, I would guess once the boat is propped correctly you will get about 29-30kts at 4000 rpm's burning 13gph and top out at 50-51mph. I have seen twin 150's on the 23 and they preform very nicely. The old carb motors were a little thursty, though.
