Default Water pump 150 rude.???

I always have dealer replace it every 3 years...This year I must save on boating cost. I may not even be able to put the boat in this season,,,? I have a guy that has done repairs on OBs, he also does small engine repairs, He says he can do the job ,I just buy the parts,,,,Anyone ever do this work yourself ,just how hard of a job it is, just want to know what to look out for when this guy starts to get into it.Dont want to come across as taking business away from the dealer ,but it may be the only way to use the boat this year...moter is a 1999 150 carb. evenrude. pump last replaced 4 years ago...Joe R

You can get discounted BRP and Merc parts at this site to do it yourself. They have a Classic 23 CC as well and will be coming to our gathering.

I replace my pump and change my lower unit oil once a year, I don't know where your running at but I run around the flats in the keys for lobster several times a year and sand in the impeller pump is not a good thing. Just make sure to have some thick grease(makes the job easier especially for keeping the key in place) and don't forget to reattach the shifter rod which is probaly inside of your cawling.
