Default FIRST RUN!!!

Finaly got my 23 savage wet and had some fun today! Per the gps and navman she is cruising at 4100 rpms at 30 mph burning 12 gph, pretty much anywhere I run it except dead idle burns about 2.5 - 2.75 gph. Not great but not bad considering the ride is INCREDIBLE!!! She handles 2-4's with no pounding and rides as smooth as good as my 29 whaler did. Silly me mounted a small backup color fishfinder in a location that keeps me going past 3/4 throttle So the most I can hit is 4900 rpm's I feel confident I can hit about 5500rpms but think I need to drop from a 18 pitch 4 blade down to a 17 pitch.
We also saw a Beautiful 23 Blue CC Seacraft with Twin 150' yamis on the back not sure who she belongs to, but was a beautiful classic!!!

Sounds good, Cant wait until I can take that first ride in mine, but still so much to do. Went offshore in my Sportcraft last weekend and got bumped around a bit in much lighter seas than you were in.

Just a quick question, How can you tell if your motor is too high on the bracket? Will your boat seem to run lower in the water? I can only trim the motor for a second or so before it starts to cavitate. I am on top holes on the bracket, and measured properly for the set back to cavitation height, I was originaly concerned that the engine was to low but it may be the reverse now. Any ideas?

Sounds like the engine may be to high. Alot depends on the type of prop, but typically, if you can't trim the motor up w/o cavitating, it might be to high. Does it cavitate while turning on plane?

I have not tried that yet, most of my turns were low speed or very small turns to course adjust as we headed offshore.
The motor had alot of it showing while running.

Hey BBH....just curious what kind of Sportcraft you have....
I have a Sailfish 242 I/O...really a sportcraft 231. Built like a tank but rough riding.
