Default Furuno 585 Sounder

Anyone have a Furuno 585 color digital fishfinder ? Thinking about having one installed in my SC 21 with a thru-hull flush-mount transducer. Not happy with current monochrome model with transom mount ducer- too much turbulence and inability to read at any speed over about 10 kts. Thanks for input.

That is a good unit, I have used it on a couple of different boats.
As for the ducer, SeaCrafts has some noisey water running by the VBR hull, and sometimes it's hard to get a clean read at speed. The best I have been able to do is up to about 28mph, I still can read depth, just not see much.
I am using an Airmar m260 shoot thro 1000 watt unit.

Yes! And love it!!! Search the threads and you'll find more pics/opinions of the install and thru-hull. The only time I lose bottom is if backing really hard or airborn

I'm pretty sure I am going with a 620 which I believe is a smaller version of the 585 and have only heard great reports on both. a friend of mine has a 585 with a 1000 watt ducer on a downeast and is a commercial tuna fisherman that's fishes mostly off of Chatham and he has been impressed with the machine.

I'm going with a 600 watt tilted through hull element that is supposed to help with the deadrise of the Seacraft. I only cruise at 20-23Knots so I doubt it will matter for me at speed.
