20' CC Seacraft question??
I am looking at a 1970 20' CC w/ F115 Yamaha. Can anyone let me know what I may expect for performance? MPG, speed and so on. The owner didn't have specific info. Thanks for the help. Any other info may be halpful. I don't have any experience with these boats...just heard Seacrafts are A+.

Re: 20' CC Seacraft question??
Maybe just a pinch underpowered but not too bad, those usually were rigged with inline 6 150 Merc's. Being thats a V block will help with the low end and I would say about 40 for top end. If you were repowering I would say a 130 to 150 but a deal is a deal, just water test it should be OK.

Re: 20' CC Seacraft question??
Your performance with the 115 should be just fine. Many of the 1970 to 1983 20' SeaCrafts were rigged new with 85hp and 90hp V4 Evinrude/Johnson motors, and did just fine. Figure a WOT speed of 38-42, and a cruise of 25-28 depending on prop, rigging, LCOG, trim tabs, etcetera.
And you'll laugh at all the old carb'd 150's and 200's as they fill up at the gas pump

Re: 20' CC Seacraft question??
I'm running a 1972 20'er with a 115 Johnson 4 stroke (Suzuki). I'll get 33kt at 5600. it's too fast in anything but the flattest water. the boat is most comfortable around 24kt (4000rpm). Did I say how quiet she runs?

Re: 20' CC Seacraft question??
I have a 76 20' Master Angler with a 140 4S Suzuki and wide open with one person on board and a full 60 gallons of fuel I only get 31kts. I don't remember what the top rpm was. I do have a large T top, tabs and a stock aluminum prop. Before this boat I had a 20'SF with an Evinrude 120 looper and it was faster but I don't remember by how much. It had a doghouse.

Re: 20' CC Seacraft question??
every boat will be slightly different in fuel burn and speed but as more people post you will get an average. I have a '71 20CC with 140 Suzy 4-stroke and get 40mph with a full 75 gallon tank and at 30mph get 5 mpg. Use those numbers with the others you get to get a ballpark figure.
