This weekends Radar installation,Etc.
I worked my tail off this week on my SF18!
http://s853.photobucket.com/albums/a...%20prop%20etc/ Starting monday and working through today on my free time I made/installed New Qtr. doors with vents to help keep the bilge dry and happy while its stored in between fishing trips. Then I had a custom Stainless radar mount welded for my Raymarine Raydome (installed a new interconnect wire to it also) and drilled, wired and mounted it all on my stainless t-top(which I had custom made a few months back). Then I performed a pre-season High performance tune up with BRF9HIX Irridium plugs and new Magnecore wires.I also installed a SST 13 7/8" x 17 pitch prop with a new SE Sport 300 hydrofoil and changed the lower unit fluid from 90w to 50 sae V twin oil to lighten the drag..Cant wait to run it and see how the Tune-up and newly installed SL72plus Pathfinder Radar works on the open sea! I got a bunch of pics as I did it all.Take a look! http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/a...g?t=1272850295

Re: This weekends Radar installation,Etc.
Hey CSC,
Welcome to CSC, Are you running a JohnnyRude? They require supression plugs or you risk blowing expensive electronics. My 150 calls for Champion ql78yc supression and nothing else. It didn`t idle great and I called Monty Racing as they make serious power with Rudes. They recommended ql77jc4 plugs and they are much smoother. I would not run those plugs. The heat ranges vary greatly among different brands and you could risk preignition/detonation and blow the pig. I am not fond of Champions, but you gotta run em. Cheers, GFS |

i hate to agree but champions are the only plugs recomended in omc out boards i replaced with new ngk and the old champs worked better and new ones were better everything else gets ngk

Re: This weekends Radar installation,Etc.
Thanks for the sparkplug info.I have a set of cooler 10hix which are hard to get....Maybe I try them first or is there a reason Irridiums should not be used period??
My outboard engine guy also was the one that recommended them.? I was running ql77jc4 before and it lugged at idle...but as for the HIX plugs I am leery now since I dont want to hurt the motor at all.I appreciate the input.

Are they supression plugs? If not your power pack may not like the decision.

Re: This weekends Radar installation,Etc.
Ok...Just got off the phone with NGK support.Feel free to contact them with any spark plug questions.
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/About_nGK/contactus.asp The product support represenetive says that the 86' V4 90hp Johnson can run the BR9HIX plugs and even said his book specifies a BR7HIX or BR8HIX specificly for this engine.Upon cross referencing the heat range,He also stated these are in the same heat range as the QL77JC4.
