I think Potter raised the decks about the same time he switched from the original Moesly 4-stringer design to the 2 wide stringers around '73-74, at least on the Seafari's. I personally believe the 2-stringer design is not as stiff as the original design, but no one has ever reported any problems with it that I'm aware of. I suspect it was a cost reduction because it happened about the time of the first Arab oil embargo, which caused a big spike in the price of gas and resin. I had been looking at the Seafari every year at the Miami boat show back then, and I remember the price of a bare hull jumping 25%, from $4000 to $5000, in just one year, supposedly due to increased cost of resin!

ok i got the transom out it looks like someone had done a crappy job of replacing it before.the stringers were full of carpenter ants so i opened them up was the wood that was in there just something to help hold the shape during layup it was just loose laying in there and could someone tell me how much 2 part foam it will take to fill the stringers? Can i just position some plywood beside the stringers to raise the foam about 3 inches higher than original and just glass over?what should i use as a release on the plywood to keep the foam from sticking or is it sticky i never used it before also where would be the best place to get it i'm in brunswick ga.
