Wow Seacraft must be a great boat
In writing this story to only to praise seacraft even though I don't own one, but I think a close copy. I have a 1995 sailfish cc 176 (18'). I had a couple people say nice seacraft and "did you restore it or have somebody do it for you". I was confused cause I had just bought the boat and didn't know much about it. I said its a sailfish I think?? I was coming into dock one day with a storm blowing and passed a brand new very nice 19' cc with a 125 hp I forgot the make. He was given it all he had and was wet from head to toe and water was hitting him so hard that I kept a eye on him even as I passed cause I thought he might get blown down by the water hitting him. I passed him 3/4 throtle (with a 90hp) high and dry with the wife, kids, and dog laughing at him getting pounded each time the boat hit a wave. When he got into the dock he said I knew that was a seacraft that passed me! I said it was a Sailfish. After putting it on the trailer he said it may say Sailfish but it sure looks like Seacraft. I know I don't have a real Seacraft just a copy, but now I want one!!!

The sailfish 176 looks like a hybrid of the Seacraft 18 hull with the Seacraft 20SF cap and liner. It's easy to see how it would be mistaken for a Seacraft.
Sailfish isn't the only manufacturer to adopt the variable deadrise hull after the patent expired. There's a reason for that. Welcome to the site, Dave

Welcome.
I have a buddy who had a 24' Hydrasport. It wasn't the vector and it would pound the crap out of him.We started fishing together back when I had my 23 SC, and we went out in it one sloppy day. He couldn't believe the ride in my SC, and I told him the whole story of the special Seacraft running surface, and how the variable deadrise design just makes so much sense and the ride just proves it. Well the next year, he went out and bought a new 26' Sailfish (needed a W/A) and I ended up selling my SC. We have been fishing that Sailfish for 6 years now, and it is a great riding boat, just like the Seacrafts. |

Yup,
that Seacraft stuff really gets in your blood.I drank the seacraft koolaid several years ago and I still think it's circulating inside me,brcause I truly suffer from seacraft mania. If I had the finances, I'd own several of them. It's especially nice when (like your experience)your able to power up in nasty conditions without taking a beating. Last year I passed a guy in a 27' Baha Cruisers(not Baja) when it was blowing pretty bad and there was a pretty solid very steep wave pattern very close together(great lakes). We tied up to the dock, and a while later the Baha came in and he asked me "How fast were you going when you passed me ?" I told him somewhere around 25-30 mph.He couldn't believe it.He just couldn't understand how a 23' boat could do that in those conditions. Yeah,no doubt most of us here are fanatics but the legend is true, they may talk the talk but seacrafts definitely walk the walk. But hey don't listen to a nut like me.My buddies can't understand it.They can't get over the fact that I have Seacraft hats, seacraft shirts, seacraft rain gear, seacraft logos on my truck, and a seacraft hitch cover on my trailer hitch. One of them asks "How many people did you bore to death online today with more pictures of your boat ?" There is a guy who slips a beautiful 26' Sailfish next to me.It is a sweet rig with twin 200 Yammies on it.Another great riding boat from the variable degree hull ala seacraft.

I bought mine without ever riding in one or even seeing one in person.... EVER. Mine was only a 30 hour round trip. A buddy of mine did the same thing 54 hour round trip for his. Neither of us regret it.
Although its not a fair comparison. A buddy has a 20 ft tin boat that I used to think was badass. (it's still a nice boat) we were on lake of the woods last summer. He was running 8 mph while I was just cruising along at 30. Don't get to pass him very often, gotta take em when I get em. I ran out of space to catch him though tried getting him into a s.c but he bought a slick craft instead. He still has me on top end but I think I'll get him in the slop yet John. Where did you get the rain gear??? I have everything else. once again you have something I don't.

Rod,actually I bought a whole bunch of Seacraft logo'd stuff a couple of years ago from the Seacraft website store.
The prices were great, and I got long and short sleeve shirts, some black and white rain gear, some polo shirts and hats, all wth the logo on em. Unfortunately seacraft was ruined by Tracker marine and now there is nothing to get from them anymore. I did see some hats and shirts on Ebay a couple of weeks ago,and I thought it said they were new. Stop your whining, you got something I don't have,"A WIFE". heck I have to cook my own dinners,do my own laundry, and go fishing whenever I want, Boy! does that suck.

I also bought mine without ever riding in one or even seeing one in person.... EVER! I just liked the design criteria and bought the first affordable project I could find locally and then shortly found a nice original not too far away so I instantly had two. Yes it is a disease.
