Bracket riggin suggestions?

I'm installing my bracket and noticed don hermco
Mounts his brackets with controls running through bracket looks a lot cleaner than through transom on top of bracket. My dad thought it was a bad idea putting a hole under water line for rigging through bracket either way you have to go through the transom but I really like the idea of neatly coming out of bracket any suggestions from either setups would be appreciated thanks

I like the way Don Herman rigs his brackets and I did mine the same way. Makes for a nice clean swim platform that's easy to walk across. One thing he does recommend is packing the thru-transom tube full of silicone once you get it rigged because if you ever got water in the flotation tub, for whatever reason, it could run into the hull if you don't do that! It's a bit of a pain if you decide you need to add anything to the rigging tube later, although the silicone is not all that hard to remove. Just make sure you've finalized all the rigging before you seal it! I decided to add a mechanical water pressure gage after I had sealed it, but fortunately was able to use a hose originally installed for the pitot-type spedo that I got rid of.

The only downside I can see to that rigging style is your wiring harness, and throttle & shift cables need to be a bit longer (Don says to allow 6' for the bracket rigging), so it's important to use good quality cables to minimize friction. I haven't noticed any problems with friction in the shift or throttle cables. Denny

I changed mine from thru-transom to thru-bracket and it's much nicer.

Hmmm I never saw the thru bracket before. Idc though I'm not swimming in the Long Island sound ill prob go thru transom up above I don't like holes Down that low. I knw it's sealed I'm JS. It looks cleaner for sure

My vote is that holes go above the waterline unless absolutely necessary.

Unless the bracket is underwater, which is obviously another worse problem, they are above the waterline...more so than the forward box drain

I put the thru-transom tube up at the very top of the flotation tank, so tank would have to be completely full of water before it would leak into hull.

Also wanted to know if you pasted on 5200 or silicone to install bracket as well as filling bolt holes with same material
