Point the vent aft and slightly down so no rain/wash water can get in and you should be able to eliminate the vent as a source of water in the fuel.

Thanks for the replies. On furthur inspection, the vent has 2
holes in it, 1 at 3 oclock and one at 6 oclock (bad position).
I thought about just 5200'ing the 6 oclock one shut, and
leaving the 3 oclock one there. When I have the nose of
that thing down, the water comes up the sides when I hit
waves. If you see the other post, I am getting a fair amount
of water in the cabin from water coming up the sides thru
some gaps underneath the rub rail. Maybe I am running
the nose to far down, but when I do, it really smooths out
the ride.

Don't plug the vent you won't be able to fill the tank or get fuel from it!Try getting a clamshell type vent or putting a clamshell over the existing vent.

As HermCo says replace that with a "clam shell" style and point it at 4 o'clock. I would personally stay away from trying to "improve the design" of the one you currently have. Thats looking for bigger trouble in my eyes

Had the same problem with my 1986 23' walkaround, so I replaced the vent with a new model two years ago and problem gone. I can not remember the name but it's made of black nylon and has baffles to stop water ingestion.

Forgot to say that the vent hose should have a loop before the vent or at least be run above the vent then down to it to prevent water intrusion.

I am curious as to what you did about the rub rail problem, I too am getting water in my cabin on the port side and cannot visualize any seams or cracks or any portals of water entry. It only happens when Im cruising in following seas and I bury the bow into (not thru) a wave. I have the identical boat except mine is a 1979 and no hardtop. Is that a 250hp on there? Mark
