Hooper I am going to go with the transom mount so I can get the speed/water temp out of it too. If I can figure it out the GPS will be tied into the VHF and the Furuno 6100 when I'm done. I like the fact the Furuno has a cruise mode that will chart the bottom at cruise speed. It looks like a great unit for the money. At cruise speed the older unit I removed would not keep accurate depth leaving me guessing. Your right about some of the other LCD's, I really don't want to see a "fish symbol" on the screen, I'd rather see what the echo really looks like. Now I just need spring time!

I have a Furuno 667 have had it for about 5 years its a great unit but the only draw back is when the sun hits it you cant seeit. I would personally go with a thru hull originally I had it transom mounted and then went thru hull it made all the difference in the world. RS.

for those with the furuno 667,i also loved the unit but had a big problem with daylight visibility.just upgraded to the furuno 6000ls,lcd color;all i needed was an adaptor pin for the transducer plug;kept the same cams-br thru hull triducer.
