Yesturday while fishing by myself for Sails I was drifting to live baits when I heard a beep on the 188c looked over and saw a red dot, I put down a jig and began raising it up and down not really retrieving jigging, when a sail hit it about 30 minutes into the fight landed it it weighed between 70 and 80 lbs. It got exciting while trying to follow him and taking the live baits out at the same time I did'nt think I was going to get him, first sail on a jig, interesting.Fellow you'll be hooked on Yellowtailing, thats my specialty great eating and fantastic fighters. Dont forget the chum! RS.

Got back from Sanibel last night. The tarpon trip was a bust, but we did see a few cruising on the surface. Cast live threadfin herring to them but they weren't interested. My father landed a 9# snook, and my brother caught a nice one too. Unfortunately I got back to the dock empty-handed (we didn't keep the snook by the way).
If anyone is interested in a great guide in the Fort Myers/Sanibel area, give Capt. Sean Middleton a call at (239) 590-6428. His web site is www.flyingfishandco.com . |

Just back from a week of chasing bonefish on Abaco. Primarily used a 7wt flyrod and the fly of choice seemed to be a lightly weighted white/chartreuse clouser with four strands of gold flash. Long leaders seemed to really help (over 12' ideally) and leading the fish by at least 10'.
Saw a number of older SeaCrafts down there including several without power in severe need of a restoration job (and likely cheap!). Summer seems just around the corner. Sadly, my 18' SeaCraft has now been sold and is in use by someone else and my 20' SeaCraft is torn up and without power! Might have to hop a plane to somewhere and fish on someone elses ride... |
