Carla,
thanks for your insight into the hull difference and the added lift for the bowrider hull. I thought your bowrider was an I/O. Are you converting to outboard? My '65 is coming along, but slowly. The new Mercruiser is 1/2 way in. rockdoc

Rockdoc,
You are right, my boat is a 65 Bowrider I/O, and have been enjoying it in the 'as is' condition, still using the old, old Merc, seems to run pretty good....so far. But...I am working on a 66 bowrider outboard version, but has no engine, (my Dad's boat), fixing it up for him. What all have you accomplished so far on your 65? Any pictures?

Things are coming along pretty good, got ALL the wood out, ground out the the inside where holes were to glass them over from the inside, one piece of plywood cut gonna glass in all the holes this afternoon and if the weather will let me the new transom will be going in tomorrow.
My plans are to cut notches in the wood where the drain hole is and where transducers will be mounted and filling them with glass so water intrusion will be almost impossible. I would post the pics on here but I am sure the moderators wouldn't like that much bandwidth. http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 http://www.myfishingpictures.com/sho...t=1&thecat=500 |

Well after finally getting my truck ready for inspection I got to work on the boat somemore this evening, got two layers of mat on and one layer of chop.If the weather allows tomorrow I will be gringing that down to see how many more layers I will need and doing that in the morning, then build the splashwell and put the transom in in the afternoon. I am gonna attach the splashwell to the inner transom before glassing the transom in.

Gigolot,
Pictures are great and showing the progress...looks good. Keep us posted. Will you be mounting the engine directly on the transom, or on a bracket?

Yes, great pics, and I'm glad I don't need to get that far into my bowrider. My skin's itching just looking at all that fiberglass work!
