SeaCraft Emblem
I found a SeaCraft emblem, in new condition, not weathered or corroded.
Now, I'd like to make duplicates, I need 4. Anyone have ideas on how to make a mold? Someone suggested molding silicone....has anyone worked with silicone before? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Re: SeaCraft Emblem
If you know someone in the Dental Lab field they could do it.

Look in Heming's Motor News, - there are a bunch of casting co's listed in there. |

Re: SeaCraft Emblem
I could use two or four also. Maybe we need to see who has the best looking 19 so we can all have comlete new emblems.

Re: SeaCraft Emblem
Thanks for your info.
Research so far: Silicone mold (unfortunately don't know a dentist, but will check with local friends). I understand that silicone would then be filled with an 'epoxy' resin, and then emblem would be spray painted to desired color. This could be done by a neighbor who's very artistic & into things like that. Advantage, it would probably be the least expensive way for just a few pieces. Sand Casting, my research so far indicates that would make a textured mold...don't think we want that. Daytonamold: sent them an email with pictures & dimensions this morning. Waiting to see what they have to say about processing & cost. Daytona is only a couple hours drive away. Would love to find a 'local' place close to N. Palm Beach, Fla, as I would prefer not to trust the mail delivery system. If I can find a good process at a reasonable cost, then I'll be glad to share with anyone interested. Any feedback on the 'epoxy & paint' process or should it definitely be a metal casting? I definitely need all the help I can get as I would like to do it the 'right' way and have everyone benefit that is interested. Please keep the info coming! Thanks, Carla

Re: SeaCraft Emblem
Different topic....but in the thought of molds...
if anybody does a transom job or gets a boat that had one and the HIN is gone or mangled....you can order a rubber stamp for about $10 with the HIN and use it as a mold to put in the glass.... |
