Fr. Frank...... I read somewhere on here that you once got caught in those conditions and it took all your skills as a Captian to get back in. Is it something you would want to go through again? Who else on this site has been in storm driven 8's, were you comfortable, would want to do it again? I've had my 18 in some 5's that were about 5' apart against an out going tide in Boca Grande Pass and I wouldn't willingly want to do it again.
