I agree with Mark !!
Myself and two of my closest friends drove 1660 miles
from Daytona, FL. to Deville, LA. (round trip)
to pick-up my $560 78 Sceptre....
Yes, it is a project boat, but the time we had
doing the male bonding thing was great!!!
Scratchin', sniffin' & generally goofing off.
You will not regret making a trip anywhere for
the right boat...

See ya, Ken

might be too far to drive but here is one,
http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/585995015.html
there is another one on craigslist down here but looks like more of a project boat.
If anyone else is looking for one '77 23 for $3600.

Here is the manufacturer by year list that I lifted from a Capt Chuck posting.

SEC = SeaCraft Inc (Potter 1969 thru 5/80)
csy = Carribbean Sailing Yachts (1980-1982 23'& 27' SeaCrafts only)
SIC = SeaCraft Industries Corp (1980 thru 1987 other SeaCraft Models) (Potter on Board of Directors approx 1 year after sale)
TXY = Sarasota Marine Corp ('86-'88 csy Parent Co)
SIC = Tracker SeaCraft of Fla (1987 thru 1990) all models
SXC = Stern Craft Corp (1994 Silver King Parent then Tracker Parent Co in 1995)
MIC = Silver King Boats (1994-2002 Mako Marine Parent Co)
MRK = Mako Marine (2002 Parent Co SeaCraft from Tracker

Regarding whether or not the 1987 is a good year boat, here is how I look at it.

If you are really interested in the boat have it surveyed. Check for the shape of the deck and transom, as well as the engines, electronics and etc. Also, take it for a decent spin and see what you think of the ride. After you do this, i think that you will have your answer.
