Gee Strick,

Big has made it pretty clear what attracts us to boats - airslot or not - they wear poly well

Maybe its time to go re-xperience spring break in Daytona or beaches down US 1 Area 442, West Palm, Jensen Beach, Key Largo? Ro(a)d trippp!

I think the little Sceptres speed and power will be silly... if you you get the Ford (probably mid 70's, no?) hummin' and opt to go modern, keep the 21 in mind down here on the border. Might be a nice up grade from the '65 chevy 230 package... lord knows i ain't got the chips for a 383 Stroker like Terry's

The "perfect boat" is a hard one to find, but, in small power boats, you ought to be able to find just the thing in a Seacraft. One of the big days in my life was when I discovered that Potter had made a few Seafari 25s. I'd owned a seafari 20 and knew how good they were, I just needed something a little bigger. The 25 was it. Found one within a year and then spent the next 2 or so talking the owner down to something half way reasonable. They seem to come up in batches, 2 or 3 in a year and then nothing for several more years. I've had mine two years, done several Bahama trips, lots of diving and camping and had it out in modestly rough conditions. It's perfect for me.

Connor, you're TOO modest! What about THE 3-6'+ seas, 20-30 kt winds and busted seat pedestals on your second trip?! http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...ad.php?t=22116 What about jumping 5' wakes at 24 knots?! http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...d.php?t=22929?
BTW, did you ever make that trip to Hole in the Wall last fall? Denny

Bushwacker,

Well, if I wrote what I really think about rough water performance, nobody, except a 25 owner ,would believe me.

Last October was canceled. The weather turned to stink the day before we were to leave and stayed that way for a couple of months. Next year is coming fast.

If you want the nicer and bigger cabin then go for the 25 seafari... but unless you are a munchkin you will still not be able to stand all the way up. The 23 Sceptre has a small cuddy but tons of deck space. Read my posts on the 25 seafari before you purchase one without first sea trialing..... Good luck.

Also read the two threads Bushwacker referenced above. They will give you a good overview of the quirks of the seafari 25. It is a fabulous boat, but not for everybody. Its so sharp, it leans a lot when turning. I hardly notice anymore, but sometimes my passengers freak out if not warned ahead of time.

On buying sight unseen: Assume you will need a major redo, no matter what it sounds like. Not a bad assumption for a 40 year old boat, even if you get a good look at it.

Feel free to PM me if you have some more detailed questions.

Connor
