Denny's right. The 115 Etec is a VERY torquey motor.
As far as max hp, the early 23's were rated for a max OB horsepower of 500, and you could request and get 600 hp max decals for the 23' SeaVette if you happened to want to drop twin 3.4L big-block Mercs or twin V8 Evinrudes back in the day.
