I think it was your asking for the comparison to the grady that limited your chance of any answer.
The 20 Sceptre was a pretty rare bird so there may not be any 4 strokes on that boat . I have seen new 150 etecs on them, and i/o. You might want to PM Strick and see what he is putting on his bracket Sceptre.

I have a Sceptre 20' with a 2002 Yamaha F100 four stroke. The boat is currently on its mooring but as soon as I get down to it I can get the info for you.It does not ride stern heavy at all,any water that does get aboard goes foward on it.

That's a good list Gillie. If one was going to consider the 140 Zuke at 421 lbs, you might want to also consider the 150-175-200 E-Tec, as they're only about another 10 lbs heavier. If you include the weight of 6 qts of oil for the 4 stroke, the difference is even less.

I know those numbers are all dry weights and I didn't even consider the extra 10 lbs of oil ![]() I was going to throw in the Etec 6 cyls but thought even the 140 was pushing it... But hey, csicknick has a 140 on his Seafari and drags 300 lb bft over the gunwale like "whats the big deal?" so I as I rethink this, a 25" transom goes a long way to maybe allowing more weight.... Nick's still sticking fish, right? Drop us a line Nick, how'd the striper derby go???

I've been on Ebeach's restored Sceptre a couple times and he powered it with a 130hp Yamaha 2S. To me that engine is perfect on the the 20's in general. I don't believe Yamaha makes that engine any longer so you'd have to go used or stumble onto a leftover.
