okay started back on the transom to fit the bracket.. I know this bracket is pretty ugly now. But it is still not trimmed out. nor faired, Definitly not as purdy as others but hey this aint no beauty contest....Yet.haha. where was i oh yea transom
As you all can see I had som issues with getting my outer skin to adhere to my new inner skin.. and as I looked long and hard at the new bracket and all the effort that went into that I decided to rip the old outer skin off. There were just to many voids and air pockets.. you can see all the circles and well the voids when i pulled the skin... Not to mention the outer skin is just mat glass.. anyway ripped it off and ground down the entire transome. The new glass layup is as follows. 2 layers of 2 oz and two layers of 18oz 90 biaxial.. then the new skin is 2 layers of 1708 biaxial and one layer of 2oz mat for the final outside layer.. ad of coarse a whole lotta sanding and fairing.. I feel much comfortable with this new glass then the old stuff..

Taking the bracket to a very large scale this time to get actual weight and then I can start trimming the fat...

Hey Martin - uh oh . . . a 20" motor on a 22"/23" deep bracket will probably have some issues. Even if you get the bracket height just perfect. The bracket may block water from the prop (b/c it's an obstruction hanging 2" to 3" below the cavitation plate).

With a 22"/23" depth and a 25" shaft motor there is a little wiggle room to adjust the motor height up or down.

Understand.. I am going to buy an extntion kit for the lower...to25 inches..if i need to..so with my 25in setback .. I can bring the bracket 2 inches... Just trying to figure out how high i need to mount the bracket to transom.. On your smaller brackets what is the height of the sides of the bracket .. Looks likecto be about 8-10 inches. From the chine of the bracket to the top of swim platform

Martin, here's an earlier post I sent to Strick with some mounting measurements on my Hermco bracket. http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...=24103&page=10 In general you want to mount the tub as low as possible to get maximum flotation. The top of the solid green paint (not bootstripe) in pictures in that other thread is 11 5/8" above bottom of flotation tub. Bottom picture below shows where my motor is currently mounted.

The AV plate on my motor is 3.5" above keel in attached pic. I've since raised motor another 1" from where it was in this picture, and it looks like it needs to come up another inch to get the AV plate out of the water when on plane. I'd guess that an AV plate height of somewhere around 5 to 5'5" above keel would be about right for my rig, but that's with a 30" setback. With a 24" setback, you'd probably want to start out with an AV plate height of around 4", but mount the motor so you could later raise it 1 or 2 holes. Hope this helps. Denny
