Default Yes on filter...

All of the charter companies in the BVI (and presumably elsewhere) run a small filter on all of their dinghies/ outboards so I would say no problem on pulling through a filter. I was amazed that all dinghies I have seen (been there on a few different occasions) are equipped with them. Must speak to the quality of fuel they get...

They are all transom mounted water separator types. Most of the motors down there seem to be 8, 9.9 and 15 hp yamaha 2 strokes.

I wouldn't hesitate to run one on my own 8hp yamaha. Ive got a '99 8hp two stroke on my 9' Boston Whaler and it gets around darn good and always starts on the first pull...
