A friend's brother who flies a Coast Guard C-130 was the one who spotted, photographed and radioed the cutter on this crazy boat/truck. He said they were only 20 miles to Key West. John-Cuban Naval Reserve LOL !

Thank your lucky stars you live in America. Those poor people gave it their best shot and the Sea didn't take em, we didn't take em, and from what I hear about Cuba in recent months those people are going to end up dead or in prison. I think Cubans might want liberation as much as Iraq, and its a lot closer.

Hey that was quite a SEA-CRAFT....It looks better than a lot of what we've seen coming ashore.
Can you imagine that driving up the boat ramp in Key West and it probably would have gone unnoticed!! |

Vintage 51 flatbed. Driveshaft was fitted with a makeshift prop. Their destination was Fort Pierce fla. where family lived. the plan was to make it to shore re-attach the drive shaft and drive to FPR. Cant believe the coast guard sunk the truck. I understand calls were make from Michigan as General Motors wanted the truck bad! Too funny and too tragic that our policy has changed on this issue.
