Re: My first
Scott, I don't plan on replacing the tanks this year but probably next year. The foam on top is not wet but I have no idea around the sides and underneath. Hopefully it will be good enough for this year. To expose the tanks is just one piece that is flush and was sealed with some sort of silicone. It came out very easy. I just cut the joint with a utility knife to free it up and out she came. I will put it back the same way. Not exactly ideal but it is nice to access that area of the boat.
Hey miles, sorry about the anchor locker template, it must have been thrown away with a bunch of other crap. I don't know how long you have had your boat but if it has been a while and the muffler is still good, hopefully the same can be said for my boat. The risers and elbows were replaced about 6 months before I bought her. I have the same rudder work to do as well, she has a little play in her, maybe 1/16 of an inch or less. Again that may wait till next year, but if it is a water tight issue I will do it sooner. I thought about the heater thing and I left some room for it on the console but this year is pretty much gonna be a sea trial year. Since i have only been underway on her once for about 30 min. And that was with the old t-top and other things that I have since changed. Even the curtains will wait till next year. Things that will be comming in March MAY include cutlass bearing, rudder post, new deck plates. Mainly things that will keep her upright. I will post pics as soon as I can of the electrical work. I also put a hatch 13X24 (i think) in the front of the console abouve the seat for storage and access. I was acutally down your way last week miles. I had a coast guard class down in yorktown. But I stayed with a buddy of mine in Chesapeake. Sorry I didn't look you up but i was very busy. They still bitin down there? Looks like rain for you guys, maybe some snow comming soon. Looks like us northern guys got some more white stuff comming. Damn Grounhog!!!!!!!! |

Re: My first
No big deal on the template dude. it would have been nice if you hadnt been so busy to have gotton together at least for a cool one and maybe took ya catchin. fishing is still hot on west winds, there are a lot of really big fish (30 to an occasional 50 pounder being being caught right now, mostly during the week when i am at work and cant go , but i might be getting slick... i mean sick later this week when the wind goes west again. A couple of the local seacraft boys who lurk but do not post , have been in some really nice fish here recently. as far as the weather goes- today was supposed to be opening day of college baseball season for him but his double header was /has been snow cancelled. we are looking for 100% rain today with a little snow tonight. hopefully all gone by tomorrow- i cant stand the stuff- makes the boat deck icey when trying to fish!!!! Take care- craig

Re: My first
Well another change to the plan. I was going to keep my old sitex fish finder onboard, i just needed to find a transducer and power cabel for it. Eventually i would have found one but I decided to say screw it. Everything else in the doghouse is brand new, I might as well get a new finder too. I went with the Furuno fcv 667, with the thru hull ducer. So the only thing that came off the the old console that is now in the doghouse is the helm. I even had to get a new helm pump. Hopefully the wiring will be done by the end of the week. I then have to take it down to the cape to have the finder and transducer installed by the company I bought it from. I plan on splashing her as soon as I can after the wiring is done, if only for a shake down. Can't wait to start seeing some new pictures of other classics getting wet for the first time this year.

Re: My first
I thought this was an interesting angle so i snaped a picture.
Also with the exception of the new fish finder the wiring will be done tommorow the 17th of march. Next year I will remove the gunnel cap and re core the one soft spot and remove all the bow dodger attachement points. Maybe some flush bow lights and cleats. Oh yeah and a swivel rod holder on the bow for the giants. Also, any one have a furuno FCV 667 finder. That is the one I picked up and it looks like a good machine. |

Re: My first
Well the weather is getting nicer which means more time to work on the boat. This weekend was very productive. I re-cored a deck hatch, filled and glass some holes in the storage area in front of the console (where a fuel tank once was), removed the old transducer and block so a new one can be installed, and pressure washed and painted the bottom. Next week I need to fill the old transducer hole and than redrill a smaller hole for the new ducer, minor gelcoat stuff and get the new ducer installed. After that, I am done. I will probably re-core some more hatches later this year as time permits. |
