Jason,
The hull design and deck space was the main reason I bought this boat. This model makes a great dive boat. Lots of room for gear and fish. Amazing how much crap we can stuff on the boat. Oh, most of my concern was with actual ride conditions, not so much with how the boat sits at rest. Look forward to meeting up with you sometime. Brent |

I'll probably be on most of the trips with Jason. He has probably considered this in his lay out and will be placing me in "shotgun" to ensure weight forward in seas.
![]() On a more serious note, there is allot to be said for BIG trim tabs. Both J and I have large tabs on our boats to deal with the prevalent gulf head seas. There is no such thing as trim tabs that are to big. If they are not down and correcting trim issues, they are up and providing extra planing surface. I really think that J has circumvented stern weight issues by not opting for a bracket. These boats where originally designed for transom mounted engines and I really feel there will be weight distribution benefits due to his choice. I own a 23 vintage express style boat that has been equipped with a single 250 /Suzie on a long bracket. Sometimes I wonder if the benefits of a full transom and a little extra speed are worth having my boat’s center of gravity moved so far back. It really is evident when I have to use so much tab to shove my bow down in seas. If Jason’s transom works out as well as I think it will, I could see myself having a bracket for sale next year.

Very nice work.....I like a lot of your mods.....especially the big fish box. I'm picking up a '74 Sceptre next week and am looking at some mods for offshore fishing. It already has a bracket. I like the scuppers and raising and sealing the floor. I'll have to wait to inspect the boat to see what has to be done. I guess there are no issues with the epoxy bonding to the PVC?? That's surprising...
Did you use a mold to make the scupper tubes??? Again....great work.... |

Thanks for the comments.
I did not use EPOXY resin anywhere in this build. Didn't like the price. The poly resin bonds real well to the PVC. During your project, if you need a specific photo, give me a call, I have a ton that are not posted. Jason |

Great job, I went back and came all they way thru, I have a 20 MA with a T Top and come out of Craig Park usually. Hang at the North bar some and with that radar arch you stand out. There is another nice white Sceptre out there I've spoken too. Again super job
