Weather looks great for temps 60/80 and sunny, we will have a steady NE wind this week as we get another front in mid-week. Forcast for Friday at this moment is 10-15 NE high temp 80 and sunny, would like that to come down some.

WOOD- I don't really have much but do have 2 fire containers, Albertson's were bought out around here by Publix and thats where I used to buy some great firewood, so this is an issue

So far Bat search has yielded nothing

Just trying help with planning, leave the offshore stuff at home. Looks like 15 knots NE all weekend and I'm kinda bummed, blows some spots I want to show you guys. Still will have some opportunities around the skyway as we have very little tide mid-day and there are alot of keeper grouper around there. The inshore bite will still be there as there are plenty of sheltered areas.

So leave some rods home and bring wood, it will be cool in the evenings so a nice big fire will be welcome.

Flying Bat seach was fruitless again today

Dixon, is the Skyway grouper fishing live bait on the bottom or trolling? How much weight is required? If trolling will Mann's Stretch lures or Rapala CD18's work? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. Will bring wood. Dave

Actually its both, lots of guys troll, lots use planers and 6-8oz bucktails with swimmer tails, Mann's are also used alot, as are downriggers. Most of that is actually done inside the skyway headed up the bay which will to be blunt, will be absolutely brutal on a NE wind. So I would think be ready for live bait around the rocks piles of the old bridge, there will very little tide which will really help get baits down easily instead of 4kts. They are much easier to get to feed if they can stick their head out without being swept out to sea Its a 2 tide day and mid day for 2 hours or so looks almost slack, should be easy to get snapper and grouper up in a chum line. So as far as weight 2 to 4 oz should be fine

Another option would be to go after some mangrove snappers. Any and all structure inclucing bridges and docks will hold these fish. I don't care if the wind is howling 30kts, there are many canals within 1 mile of the campsite that are protected and offer great fishing. If you can get some small/med pinfish, tossing them under and around boats in the canals and marinas can be gangbusters for 30"+ snook. The wind should die down as the week progresses.
