Friday I'm thinking will be a riding around kinda day as people arrive, finding out where everything is. lots of places to checkout - we do have cell phones.
Friday night could be at Miss Vicky's in the river near the ramp, outside place with music, or go up to the Sponge Docks with multiple options - Trader Jacks is similar to Miss Vicki's Saturday on on the north bar or the southend, people can cook all day and we set up an outpost. Eating can be done out there or just do like lunch and go to dinner at the Sponge Docks - like I said lots of places to eat that we normally don't have. Hooters is another adventure on the water in the Cottee River just north of Gulf harbors. Another idea I had - there is no moon - if we have any star gazers the north bar has literally no light pollution - 0, it is quite amazing. Maybe a small bonfire and hangout, we should already have an outpost set up. The outpost can be left up from friday all weekend, nobody will mess with anything - it ain't peanut island. No place is a far run, north or south, so everyone can be quite spontanous

I would love to see the networks do the next survival on Anclote. The bugs are brutal at night.

Damn had a long post and lost it, but yes, all is from the boat. The best places to eat are on the water vs getting in a car anyway. Most are on the Anclote River, Miss Vickys is very close to the gulf, then the Sponge Docks and Trader Jacks which also has an outdoor deck with music. Hooters on the water is north of Gulf Harbors up the Cottee River but again not far. Really no reason to sit at the Ramada for much of anything other than sleeping and hopefully the weather will be real nice for the guys staying on boats - although there are places suitable short of a gale.
My favorite eatery at the Sponge Docks is a little place called Plakas that has a walk up window, there is a large gift shop on the river before the docks its across the street. They don't have small boat docks along there so just pull up and walk across the street - everyone has heard about Gyros but the greeks make another pita sandwich called a Souvaki that you can only get down there, its better - and yes they all still yell at each other in greek. Always reminds me of the SNL skit about cheeseburgers. I doubt anyone will be in a car for much, plenty of fuel ice bait available and 35yrs around there tells me there are more places to explore than there will be time. Bugs will not be an issue I will guide you to what Susan calls an Eggsuckindog Adventure, which because of her, really turned me loose the last 15 yrs 813-369-3256

There is nothing like sleeping on a boat. Just the best. May sleep with the others...
I cough all night long into the morn. Don`t want to keep you up all night. Easy choice is Ramada. Cheers, GFS |
