Darter-One, Welcome to CS. From what I gather Seacraft changed the name from Tsunami to Sceptre around '73-'74 due to copywrite issue of the Tsunami name.... Though I could be wrong?

Ok Tsunami/Sceptre owners here's the story..
SeaCraft applied for the name Tsunami with the patent office one {1} day after another company who was building a 23ft. center console boat made application for the same name!! They got the name and told us thru their lawyer to stop using that name and furthermore to pay them $10,000 for having infringed. Our lawyer said pay or go to court..So we paid and you TSeaCraft Tsunami owners have a boat with a very expensive name!!!

Seapotter, what year did that happen? Was it 73/74 as I've been thinking?

I was a Johnson outboard mechanic for Bob Hewes Boats on the Miami River from 1971 to 74. I remember in either 73 or 74, we picked up the SeaCraft line and it was then called the Sceptre. Ironically, Tsunami Boats, the center console that Potter refers to was built about one block away. It was a nice looking boat, usually with a black hull and inboard or I/O power.
