Warthog - That's exactly where I was thinking about when you mentioned the angled bezels. It's a great idea. I don't know if I have the woodworking skills to pull this off, but it'll be fun to try.

Here's a little update on the spooky console. I took a few weeks off from the whole project, but this past week I made a mold for "toe space" and added one coat of primer. The nice part about the console is that you can walk right up and lean against it without bumping your toes
Also planning to add some amber LED lights to the top of the recessed pocket for night fishing. Should be pretty sweet when it's finished. Still needs another few coats of primer and a few days of sanding before it's ready for paint. Here's a few pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

In that second pic if I'm not mistaken I think I see a Hammer Toe? How did you bond it to the cc to make it look so flush? Nice legs too by the way!

Thanks for all the compliments.
Strick - when I made the mold I cut the 3/4" MDF to fit the opening almost perfectly - just slighly smaller. That mold was glue to a flat piece of MDF that created a 2" flange around the outside of the pocket. The pocket piece was centered, glued (cabosil and epoxy) and then clamped to the console. The rest was just fairing and sanding. I formed a 90 degree edge on the outside of the pocket and knocked off the ridge with a sander to make a nice straight round edge. It's not perfect by any means . . . the left side is much straighter than the right. It's difficult to tell looking down, but at this angle it's pretty obvious. ![]() |
