bottom should be stripped of all bottom paint than sanded smooth at that point any damage-blisters,delamination,stress fractures need to be repaired properly-all damaged areas need to be ground out than repaired using mat do not use cheap fillers!!! allrepairs need to be faired in than entire bottom should be barrier coated-epoxy barrier coating makes the bottom "water proof" i reccomend at least coats of barrier coat than paint bottom with 1 coat "hard" bottom paint of a different color than final color than 3 coats of petit hydracoat paint when different color shows through now it is time to repaint. sand blasting is the easiest way to remove the paint however peel a way will work but be sure to follow directions on can!!! it is best to allow time in between removing the paint and barrier coating to allow for hull to "dry" out use of 500w lights will speed this process make sure not to attempt to apply the barrier coat outside in freezing weather it wont "kick" properly the described method is the best solution when properly done this paint will last approx 3 seasons
