Thanks for getting back to us. I find it hard to believe that Tracker Marine won't or can't supply information on thier boats, unbelievable. The post below yours says his 89 23WA was rated for 300 hp. I seem to remember seeing that figure somewhere but cannot relocate it. There is nothing on my boat other than a sr# and a tracker sticker saying the boat complied w/CoastGuard specs at the time. I have the cut out for twin engines, so the transom may be a little heavier? I know it was too thick(wide) to fit my 15hp Honda kicker on it, so I went w/a bracket. The only engine I have priced was a 250 E-Tec in Canada, they quoted me $16,300 US $,+ rigging for just under 18K. If I buy there I don't have to pay the GST/sales tax since it is exported w/o duty. My second choice would probably be the Suzuki, would have to find a dealer willing to talk price as the Suzuki list prices are high.
The E-Tec must be doing something right as ACB just sent Los Angles CA Police Dept a 26ft boat w/twin 200 E-Tec's on it.
I would have thought they would go with 4 strokes.

I repowered my 23 CC with a 200 yamaha v66. Some would consider it underpowered but it tops out at 39 mph and it is always so lumpy where I live 25 mph is about as fast as I want to go. I got the new 200 installed for $12500. It is also lighter so the transom is higher and I get no water on the deck when fishing in the back even on rough seas. I like it!

Gary~

It's not that Tracker wouldn't give me the info. but instead they told me that their records did not go back that far. It had something to do w/when they bought out Seacraft which I didn't quite understand. But that's the 411 on that. The info. about the maximum horsepower for our boats that many of us seem to be interested in is extremely important for insurance purposes. Insurance companies "may not" insure your boat if it exceeds the limits regarding horsepower, so you need to know the correct info. before you go out and buy to big of an engine and then have to turn around and sell it me for half the price. I was thinking twin 115 hp on brackets. I don't need my WA to go over 40. But offshore I want twins. Seacraft couldn't tell me my fuel capacity, but someone told me it is 120 gal.
with the twin 115's I think I would have a great range and still good cruising speed. Dying to try 4strokes.

Bigmike: I just tore out my old 150 gal fuel tank and replace it with a 95 gallon one. Even going 60+miles off shore for 36 hours with my old twin 130 yam's I only burned 90 gallons. Figured my range with the 115's is over 80 miles offshore with 1/3 to get back and 1/3 safety. It's also cheeper to fill up a smaller tank.

My 89 23 WA has a 115 gal tank. I had sucked it dry in the spring and was able to get 110 gal in it and it was sitting a little off center and leaning on the trailer.

My 1989 23' has a plate that shows max at 300 hp.
