Capeed,

Looking at the stern of the boat, is the transom shaped similiar to this?

Does it have the stepped hull?

TO all you disbelievers
I just took a ride and went and looked at that black 27 and they are the EXACT same hulls. My hull has the steps in the hull and it is a SEACRAFT
Thanks, Ed

Ed,... We're not "disbelievers".. Your boat is one version of a Sea Craft none of us have never seen or seen any type of info on. Most of the people on this site live and breath Sea Craft dust. If you have noticed, there is more info here on old Sea Crafts then is in the back rooms of Sea Craft its self. So don't get mad if we don't believe its a Sea Craft, we've seen a lot of quote Sea Craft's. A few more pics of the boat, maybe out of the water or even an old add showing the boat may have helped out a bit. So don't get mad if we question the boat, we're not the Sea Craft cops, but just a bunch of guys keeping a legend alive.

Right, It looks like it's a SeaCraft, just one that no one has seen before. Maybe It's been modified. Looking at the gunnel cap towards the back of the boat with the railing, I've never seen anything like that. Also looking down at the deck, usually you would see an engine box attached to the transom. It has twin IO's right? not a straight inboard? It looks like you have a experimental model or a heavily modified one. You should get some more pictures up so we can see more.

Its a SeaCraft, one of the late 27's from the Mosely era although it is from the potter years IE one of the last 27's while both Moesly and Potter were onboard, there were different configs aft for the power combo chosen. Granted there were only a handful built and Ed may very well have the only one set up like this.

It is a sharp boat and looks like a great deal.

The boat is shrinked wraped so I can't take any pictures. But If it does not rain to hard I will take some pictures of the hull. I talked to the father of the person that own the black 27' last night and him & his son are going to stop by this weekend to take a look at my 27'. Any one is welcome to take a look I live in orleans on the cape. just let me know and you are welcome to crawl all over my Seacraft. Thanks, Ed

Default 27' seacraft-need advice on I/O diesel conversion

I just came back from looking at Capeds boat, his hull is the same as mine, actually it confirmed that my rear transom was cut flat to make it an inboard (Rather than make a pocket). The bottom rear of my hull has about an 18-20" flat, as opposed to the 4" flat where the "V" usually comes together. My mechanic is worried about the I/O installation and having good water coming back without the
"V". Anyone have an opinion, I figured if anyone knew the answer, you guy's might. I have a choice to "V" it off, install the jackshaft I/O the way it is, or keep it an inboard. From an engineering standpoint, I don't think it will make a difference having a larger than normal flat, maybe I will lose a little speed, but I am not sure. I want to make it an I/O for trailer-ability, better fuel economy, manueverability and better cruising speed.

Thanks

In my experience, the wider the "pad" - the faster/higher the boat will run. The pad will make the boat more stable at speed. If anything, I believe that the pad will give "cleaner" water for the prop to spin in. I wish my 25' Seafari had some kind of pad on it- might keep it from listing. Maybe this winter....Again, just my experience & opinion-

I agree with Doug, most go-fasts these days have some kind of pad on the aft bottom of the "V". Apparently this will help the boat plane better, be faster out of the hole and should work great with the jackshaft.

I was thinking of taking a trip to Alabama to see a Seacraft listed on boattrader.com.... I'd much rather buy one in my own back yard...

Please give me a call. I'm in Orleans every day.

Thanks,
Michael
