Mine ('92 Merc 150 carb) drops from about 38-40 psi to about 16-20 psi at between 2800 - 3400 rpm when the poppet opens and then stays pretty constant to WOT. If your pressure drops below 8 psi at any time you have a problem.

Isn't the water pressure somewhat lower in the 2.5's as opposed to the 2.4's?

well i wanted to know if u have a 20 or 25 inch shaft on ur motor? i think my problem is in the water pump base or something because after i had it professionally replaced i still have water coming up out of where the shift shaft is. and now i got water coming out of only one of my above water exhausts. i think i gotta take it all apart again like it was when u saw it...

Yeah Blue, I have been to S&F. I did some reading there and at Iboats which confirmed what you guys said. If I really had some $$ to throw at it, I might try to hop up the engine while I was at it, but I have been throwing cash at the boat like it is going out of style and I haven't even really gotten started. My transom is mulch and my deck isn't far behind. I just wanted to take it out a couple times before I really chop it up.
