Re: I can make molds but not a picture
I got a little more work done on the boat. This is a test fit on the fuel tank. What is the best material to use to put under the tank? I understand that rubber will hold water and shorten the life of the tank.
This is my new fuel tank cover. It is made of six layers of 1808 and then I laminated a piece of 3/4 ply to it and then one more 1808. This is the console I chose to use. It is smaller than most members are using, however I am trying to maximize deck space. I am already thinking of looking for a 23' when this is done. I made the door out of starboard and installed a Perko latch/lock. I picked up this liitle belt sander to fair out all of the holes that I filled in on the gunwhale, so far it works great. Strick, Yes there was a time when I loved doing taxidermy, then I started doing it for money and lost my passion for it. When you have to do something for money it no longer seems enjoyable.

There is a builder on a few other sites named Jaws. His demeanor is a little rough but the work he does seems to be very good from an internet point of view. He uses starboard with starbond on the bottom of the tanks. I have never tried it so I cannot speak to it but it does Sound interesting. You may want to research that a little further. Good luck and looks great.

Re: I can make molds but not a picture
Bryan A thanks for the info about starboard. I'm wondering if some leftover fiberglass from the laminating table would work also.

Re: I can make molds but not a picture
Home Depot sells a Azec type board. It is white and impervious to just about anything. I am using it for the runners on my tank. You might want to check it out.

Re: I can make molds but not a picture
I layed up some solid fiberglass strips about 5/16 thick and bought neoprene? from the guy that built my tank. and 5200 them in place.
