Mine is the same. This is at the top of the list along with installing the gps, battery install and a couple of console upgrades. I've been looking at hatches in the 7" x 14" range. Haven't measured yet, but definitely going to replace the existing 'patch' with something operable. I was planning on starting some of these projects Saturday, but, it's snowing now and supposed to get messy tomorrow. Oh well! I guess it'll be another weekend.

I just opened mine up yesterday, i have a piece of acrylic that is gasketed, i'll probally make a aluminum piece one of these days. the space is to small for anything commercially available. The gasket is key, when i got my boat there must of been a whole tube of caulk smeared back there, took forever to clean up. I am going to order a armstrong round hatch and install in the back wall of the livewell for easy bilge access.

I haven't thought of that. I'm more inclined to take your approach due to the lack of room in the splashwell. It's a pretty tight space with hydraulic steering, cables, etc. cluttering it up. Another example of why this site is so helpful! Thanks!, makade!

Just an update, I installed the armstrong hatch in the back of my baitwell, and would highly recommend it. It is watertight as advertised and provides easy access to the bilge. Much easier than reaching in from the top!

I think I'm going that route as well. What size did you end up using? Post some pics of yours if you get a chance. Thanks.

Had an idea to help me remember to open the door when I raise the motor. I'm thinking about getting some double sided tape and attach a whoopi cushion to the back of the door. When I raise the motor, it should get mine and everyone else's attention! (Sorry, I needed a laugh).

I used their smallest one, required a 6.75" hole. Just barely able to move my jigsaw around. I should be able to get a pic later. Also I do think this plate would fit in the splashwell, if the old hole was glassed up. But would be tricky to cut a hole there.

Thanks! I'm going to take the plate off to check the pump and clean the bilge out then reseal, hopefully, for good! I bought a 6" screw-in access cover yesterday that will soon be installed in the baitwell. I think I have the sickness. I went from "all original with no mod plans" to "why is my mod list getting so long". I truly love this disease! Just hope my wallet can keep up! Hope all have a great weekend!
