I remember that. Never got to go for a ride, though.

Been there done that with a 23SF with twin 225's. I would go single 250. I hit 59 on GPS with the Mercury 225's at about 5500 rpm. Balance is quite different with 1 vs. 2.

Thanks for all the input! If I decide to get these I will buy both and sale one or may just keep looking for a deal a single 250. I am not to picky about age or if it's a two or four stroke as long as it has been maintained over the years. Just got divorced so funds are limited right... but I got to keep the boat!
Im looking for a single 250 four stroke if you want to sell one

Also like the ideal of pulling power head and crank to see if I can get the shaft out.

Won't work - its only a 23' boat for petes sake
Come on dog, it does work, it's a classic Seacraft 23 not a classic bayliner 23. I know a man that had twin 250's on a 23 Sceptre fast and fun, it was tons of ajusting to get good all around preformance but yes it can be done. I miss my 250's until I drive past the gas pump.
Dude - these are 4 strokes were talking about, not your badass Merc's. I am also kinda pissed I never got a ride either but never was convienent. They think they got me going again, found something in a fuel line - so I will be feeding it this weekend.

I run a 2006 f250 on a 23 and get 47+/-mph WOT, sucking about 17-18 gph, cruise around 29-31 mph @ 41-4200 rpm burning 9gph, Two 250's is way to heavy. A new single 300 would be prime, less weight than the 250 and more hp. Twins for peice of mind, but for fuel burn and running cost gotta go with a single.

So....

Buy both and sell one!

I have mounted an F225 on 2 different boats and they are HEAVY HEAVY MOTORS . . . I suspect they are over their advertised weight (well into 600lb range). Makes a 3.0L merc 225 and 200hpdi feel like a 4hp. One F250 is plenty of power for the 23 . . . no sense in cruising over 30mph anyway with todays gas prices. Weather only allows 22 - 25mph most days around here.

That's why I have the 150's now. I had two days down in the keys in June comming back in from 35 miles out that I missed my 250's but with the gas prices I would have only
been fishing one day instead of three. The three years I ran the 250's I had two trips I got true enjoyment out of thim 30 mile round trip offshore crusing at 55mph and 10 miles in tampa bay one day at 65mph

I will probably ask $7500 for the one if I buy them.
