Are the letters obscured and you're guessing at the "D", or are they clear and the rest is tough to make out? Post up the HIN as you read it and maybe we can help out.

When i checked today the nuber is hardley visable at all. I am getting the hin number from the title of the boat which is SEDF00220178. Not really sure what to make of this

I'm guessing there was a clerical error on the title and it should be "SEC" not "SED".

My other SeaCraft is a 1978, and the HIN starts with SEC. I'm sure yours did/does too. Some one, sometime got the "C" and the "D" mixed up on the title. It's a Potter built boat -- for sure!

The paint is already in rough shape over the HIN so I'd strip it off to confirm. I'm willing to bet that D is really a C once the paint is gone. If that's the case, you'll probably need to take a pencil etching of the HIN to your DMV to have the title corrected. It may also require a visual inspection by them to verify.

Since the D makes no sense and a C does I think the mystery is solved

I guess when I go paint the hull next year I will worry about it then right now I just cant wait till Sunday and get out on the water with her.

Thinking about painting it when I do this color its called Dessert Sage metallic. Anyone ever seen a boat with this color ?

....I got another question since this Merc was converted to pre mix. What type of oil do I or should I use for this ?
