Also the winter is the time to drill down a local that may not be that busy. Some guys around me are doing tops in the winter for their cost of materials plus their labor. No mark up on materials.

Also broaden your search. Boat will probably be there a week for the work at best so finding a guy 2 hours away that cheaper is no big deal as long as the cheaper is more than your fuel costs to take it to him.

Ditto and a double ditto!! Get it right the first time so you don't look back and say "why did I do that"?

A custom built T-top is worth every penny...
In 1996 when my fabricator fitted the NoBones,
I got just want I wanted!!!
Complete with electronics box about 2K.

I'm starting to look into a custom top this winter as well. I was hoping to build a doghouse, but I'm just not gonna have the time, so a custom t-top it will be. I've heard Fasttech does excellent work, but want to look around some more. Their pricing seems a bit higher than what some guys are talking about here, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Can anyone recommend a shop near Greater Boston/South Shore?

Cheers,
Mike

shop it out, people are hungry for work, i can't imagine you couldn't get a custom (basic) top for 1500-2000. I know you could in Tidewater Va.

That's what I was thinking, under 2 grand, no electronics box, mostly straight tubing instead of tons of bends, maybe rocket launchers maybe not, sunbrella instead of foam core or an alternative.
Its very easy to make a 20 look bad with a tall t-top, they are so narrow with such a low freeboard, especially with a raised floor, but when you see one done up right, they look sweet.

Prices in the northeast must be higher than elsewhere,I am from the Cape Cod area and you would be lucky to have a very basic top built around here for less than 3K and by the time you had the options such as an electronics box and rocket launchers you'll be around 4K.
