ok . . . I think I see what is going on . . . the PVC now sitting on the drive shaft . . . looks like it might just go over the 5" extension piece, so it doesn't slide all the way down the shaft?

The drive shaft extension piece goes on top of the OEM shaft. You have to take a hole saw on a 12in extension to clearance the housing for the flange (female side) of the drive shaft extension to fit up there. The PVC pieces are just to make the seals fit tight on the body of the motor like factory.

Is there any reason you would not want to use this extension kit on an '06 Etec 225? I'm looking at some, but they are 20" & I need 25". Thanks

I'm satisfied so far but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I think Bay is the only game in town so if you need it and they make it you're stuck with it.

Yep pretty much, unless you want to spend many more bucks to buy a whole new lower unit. The Bay unit isnt bad, but its a little over priced for the quality of the parts. The machining on the ALUM extension it self left a little to be desired (the studs did NOT fit well without liberal blows with a soft faced hammer) and the rest of the kit was a few plastic tubes to space the seals back up to their mating surfaces. I would probably be a little more happy if it came with a water pump kit at least. Why wouldn't you do a water pump at this point anyhow? Its the same kit for your 06 motor as my 1994.

Thanks. I'm going to look at them this weekend. Figure the Bay kits will be the way to go - doubt I will find decent mid-sections for the same kind of money. I'm going to check the service records on when they last had pump kits - agreed, it's an easy time to replace them. Good to see others figured these kits out, and they seem to work. I appreciate the feed-back.
