MEG outboards (maritime engineering group) is nearly bankrupt and looking for investors or for a buyer. A friend of mine at Pro-Line says they've run through the Federal wringer, when they should have received their manufacturing and EPA permits 3 years ago. He said they have spent something like 14 million in development, and 12 million in Federal inspection and testing costs and fees. Under the previous administration they were told they were just "a few weeks" from receiving their final approval to begin planning production, but under the current one everything was stopped in its tracks.

That information is 3rd hand, but is also disturbing.

I'm thinking they were too busy giving away ga-zillions to Solyndra and other "green" projects to worry about the marine industry. I had better stop.......

Don't get me started on current Feds & Regs, and administration.

My daughter got denied carmel sauce for her apple dippers at McDonnalds, apple dippers is a healthy alternative to fries, they used to serve it with the apples, then by request only. She is in great health and shape.
Heres the irony, we had just bought fireworks for INDEPENDENCE DAY and wanted a bite to eat, so we went to a classic american establishment.
After denying my daughter and her return to the table stating they could not give the sauce to kids, I went up and asked, I got denied, they said they had no sauce, my friend saw the fancy poster of McDonnalds promoting their new ROLO Mcflurry with gues what Caramel sauce. I returned to the the counter and asked for the sauce that they use on the Rolo Mcflurry , I was given the sauce but on the condition that i could not give it to the kids-
I was reminded of the current issue in NY where you cant buy a large soda......
What The F is going on here?????
This has the Kiss of Michelle Osama Obama all over it!!!!

GUYS WE WERE SLOWLY BEING SOCIALIZED, NOW ITS HAPPENING RAPIDLY AT BREAKNECK PACE- SIDESTEPPING THE CONSTITUTION WITH LEGAL NUANCES

WE HAVE TO STOP THIS- were getting force fed dog crap.

To Top it off guess which one of Obamas Buddies had a play in the Evinrude financial problems- the billion air who banks, and makes billions on collapsing countries and business to failing
YUP, it's GEORGE SPOOKY DUDE SOROS

Look up & read Obamas college thesis

Look up and read evinrude history on WIKI

Brian,
The only way to "push" any E-Tec (or ANY modern clean engine) for more power is to push it SIDEWAYS and install another one next to it!! (BTW, the idea for a twin-size bracket would really help resale value on that Seamaster!) Emissions regs have the OEMs on a pretty tight leash when it comes to souping up the motors. Not that it CAN'T be done by someone like Monte racing if they had a way to reprogram the EMM, but there is no off-the-shelf "tuner chip" you can buy to increase power.

However BRP uses the exact same E-Tec technology along with some variable-area exhaust ports to get 160 hp out of an 800cc production snowmobile motor!! It probably has to meet some sort of emissions standards, and that would translate to getting 680 hp out of that 3.4L powerhead! They certainly aren't working it too hard at a rating of only 300 hp! If anyone wanted to start a HP war with BRP, they clearly have the weapons to be seriously competitive, so who knows what they'll come up with in the future given enough market demand! Denny

Default etec 300

I have heard many times, and even from the Etec Techs that the 300 hp is capable of reliably delivering 80 hp per cylinder!!!!

I think their biggest worry is the gear case being able to handle it, and of course emissions compliance, someone aftermarket surely knows how fool or reprogram the EMM

What does one of those 27s weigh? How much wider are they than a 23, I am assuming your not after speed looking at a single engine over twins.
